Don't Look

Remember when we were kids and the teacher use to say "keep your eyes on your own paper"? All of a sudden, you wanted to look! At least that was true for me. In that moment, I questioned so much. Was I picking the right answers? Was I about to fail? Was so and so smarter than me? This wave of doubt and insecurity swept over me. All it took was one look to throw me off course.
I wish I could say that I've learned my lesson on not looking. However, resisting that urge has only gotten harder. Hasn't it?I mean, its so easy to compare our lives with those around us.Instagram has a filter for everything. Our friends are hitting milestones that maybe we haven't. Society has high expectations & we want to measure up!One look leads to comparison & that leads to deception.
If you are like me, you think way too much. It sucks, because you could probably convince yourself of anything.Like how your life isn't measuring up.Well, let me remind you. Keep your eyes on your own paper. You arn't doing as bad as you think. Don't let the lies of insecurity over take you. Guard your heart. Take those thoughts captive. His ways are higher. He's got you! Be encouraged!
- Here are some verses that have kept me in check when dealing with comparison.Think about them.. see what I did there :) Also, if you need prayer let me know !
“What sorrow awaits those who argue with their Creator.
Does a clay pot argue with its maker?
Does the clay dispute with the one who shapes it, saying,
‘Stop, you’re doing it wrong!’
Does the pot exclaim,
‘How clumsy can you be?’
Isaiah 45:9
"Do not conform to the pattern of this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind. Then you will be able to test and approve what God’s will is—his good, pleasing and perfect will." Romans 12:2
“For my thoughts are not your thoughts,
neither are your ways my ways,”
declares the Lord. “As the heavens are higher than the earth,
so are my ways higher than your ways
and my thoughts than your thoughts.
Isaiah 55:8-9
